ਇਹ ਨਾਵਲ ਲੇਖਕ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਗਿਆ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ਾਖ, ਹਰ ਪੱਤੀ, ਹਰ ਰੇਸ਼ਾ, ਲੇਖਕ ਦੀ ਮੱਚਦੀ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ । ‘ਪਾਲੀ’ ਵਿਚ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਦੀ ਉਡਾਰੀ ਬੜੀ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਹਿਰਦਤਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਜੇ ਸਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਖੋਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਭੈਣ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੀ ਰੁਮਾਂਸ ਦੀ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਚਾਉ ਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਘਰ ਕਰੂਪਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਠੋਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੇ ਸਹੁਰੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚ ।
