ਇਸ ਨਾਵਲ ਦਾ ਹੀਰੋ ਇੱਕ ਵਰਕਰ ਹੈ । ਦਰਮਿਆਨੇ ਦਰਜੇ ਦਾ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਲੜਦਾ ਹੈ । ਨਵਾਂ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੁਪਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਜਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਰਦਾਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਮਾਏਦਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਟੱਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ ਤੇ ਝੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਨਜ਼ਾਮ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਰੋਸ ਕਰਦੇ, ਉਹਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੂੰਡਦੇ ਹਨ । ਰਾਤ ਬਾਕੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ, ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਲੋਅ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

This novel features a hero who is a worker, a middle-class farmer engaged in the struggle for farmers' rights. He dreams of creating a new society and is willing to sacrifice his life to turn these beautiful dreams into reality. It is the first Punjabi novel where the characters face a direct confrontation between labor and capital in their village. Instead of merely expressing anger against the unjust system, they seek to understand its root causes. Though the night is still young, the lives of those who sacrifice themselves illuminate the darkness.
