ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਗਾਥਾ ਜਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਛਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਲਿਖਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਯੁੱਗ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨਧਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਮ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਬੜੇ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਨਰੋਆ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਵਲ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਵਾਦੀ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਮੀ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਪਸੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਛਾਂਹ ਛੱਡਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਲੜ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਨਾਵਲ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਗਾਲਪਨਿਕ ਜੀਵਨੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਵਿਰੋਧਤਾਈ ਦਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਹੱਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ, ਸੁਚੇਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਤ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
