ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਡ-ਅੱਡ ਜਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੱਤ-ਅੱਠ ਟੱਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਵਲ ਜਮੀਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ। ਇਹ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਆਮ ਨਾਵਲਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਨਾਂ ਇਸਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਖਲਨਾਇਕ। ਇਹ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਕੋਈ ਗੁੰਦਵਾਂ ਪਲਾਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਦਾ। ਇਸ ਨਾਵਲ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਬਿੰਦੂ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਜੋ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਜੋ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਗੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਪਿੰਡ ਜੋ ਜਾਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਿੰਡ ਜੋ ਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਮਾਲ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਣਖੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਵਲ - ਜਮੀਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ।

Unlike other Punjabi novels, it doesn't follow a convoluted plot. The central focus of this novel is a village—a village that is evolving, a village that is introspective, a village that is awakening, a village that is dying. Ram Sarup Ankhiji's presentation in this novel is remarkable.
