ਇਹ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਉਸ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਆਈ। ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਫਿਰਕੂ ਮਕਸਦ ਖਾਤਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਚੀਰ-ਫਾੜ ਕਰਵਾਈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਦਸ ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਤਲੇ-ਆਮ ਹੋਇਆ, ਲੱਖਾ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਬਰ-ਜਨਾਹ ਹੋਏ, ਅਰਬਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਇਦਾਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ। ਝੂਠ-ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ’ਤੇ ਸਫੈਦ ਮੁਲੱਮਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ 1947 ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਿਹਾਇਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਫਿਰਕੂ ਫਿਤਰਤ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਨਾਵਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਠੀਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
