Many of these stories have previously been translated into Punjabi once or multiple times. My aim in translating them again was to gain a deeper understanding. The joy of reading a work in translation is different from a casual reading. Once you develop a new, nuanced interest in literary texts, you find yourself drawn to this aspect. The journey through linguistic resources in search of the right words during the translation process is far more rewarding for me than any other type of journey.
