Zafarnamah Darpan | ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਹ ਦਰਪਣ

‘ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਨਾਮਹ’ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ: ਜਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਅਥਵਾ ਵਿਜੈ-ਪੱਤ੍ਰ। ਸਰਬੰਸ ਦਾਨੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਪੱਤ੍ਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਬਰ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਦਿਆਲਪੁਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੇਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਚੁਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਈਸਵੀ ਸੰਮਤ 1706 ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ। ਦੇਸ਼-ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ 111 ਸ਼ਿਅਰਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਇਸ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਫਾਰਸੀ, ਰੋਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੇਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਅਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹਰ ਸ਼ਿਅਰ ਦੇ ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਿਰਲੇਖ ਵੀ ਆਰੰਭ ਵਿਚ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਠਕ ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਉਣਗੇ।

The word Zafarnama means a letter of victory or a letter of triumph. Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Supreme Sacrifice Guru, wrote this letter in the early part of the year 1706, addressing the tyrant Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, while seated in the upper room of Bhai Desa Singh's house in Dyalpur. With the intention of reaching readers across the world, this historical and sacred document, based on 111 verses, has been presented in Persian, Roman, and Gurmukhi script. Furthermore, its meaning and interpretation have been provided in both Punjabi and English. The title that reflects the meaning of each verse is also given at the beginning.
