ਇਹ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੰਵਲ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਹੈ । ਲੇਖਕ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬੇਗਾਨੀ ਆਸ ਤੇ ਜੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਜੀ ਚਲਣ ਵੀ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਬਾਕੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਜਨਤਾ, ਆਪੂੰ ਬੇਹਾਲ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਲ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ । ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਬਲਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਫਾਂਸੀਆਂ, ਉਮਰ ਕੈਦਾਂ ਤੱਕ, ਪਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਪੁੱਠ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੰਗਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ । ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਬੇਥਾਹ ਲਈਆਂ, ਪਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਤਿੰਨ ਕਾਣੇ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ । ਉਲਟਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾ ਚਾਣਕੀਆ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਖਿੰਡਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਹੁਣ ਖਤਰੇ ਦੀ ਝੰਡੀ ਲਈ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਆ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਹੈ; ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ ?
